Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing net revenue analytics between operational and finance results on a monthly basis to System Office and regional finance leaders. 

  • Develop net revenue performance reports that tracks changes in AR valuation and revenue recognition related to key performance indicators
  • Create and maintain complex data sets to analyze reimbursement statistics by payor and report key statistics on annual cost reports and surveys
  • Maintain payment rate information for government payors and audit variables for accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain a reimbursement liaison process to provide information and understanding to Mercy Health key stakeholders as needed including Accounting, Revenue Cycle, Decision Support, Payor Contracting, and Mercy Health Select.
  • Develop budget assumptions for net revenue by payor to support annual budget activities led by system office.
  • Develop annual strategic pricing initiatives and determine impact to net revenue.
  • Monitor changes to state provider tax/UPL/quality incentive, and other pass through reimbursement programs and determine impacts to revenue recognition.
  • Prepare special net revenue-related reports or studies as deemed valuable by senior leadership.
  • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with others to foster teamwork, effective communication and cohesiveness regarding reimbursement matters.
  • Educate Home Office, regional personnel and other appropriate parties on net revenue matters.  Prepare and deliver formal technical presentations to internal and external groups.

Qualifications - Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.  CPA, CHFP, and/or master’s degree in Business preferred. Prior public accounting or consulting experience a plus.
  • Minimum required 10 years net revenue, accounting and revenue cycle experience at the supervisory and managing level in a multi-facility setting. Expertise in revenue cycle management gained from healthcare consulting firm or management role in hospital revenue cycle setting.
  • Project and/or consulting work experience demonstrating the ability to assess, analyze and implement solutions.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work well without close supervision.
  • Experience in healthcare financial reporting in a management position at the system or regional level. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts surrounding general ledger, accounts receivable, and reimbursement.
  • Experience with decision support tools highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including but not limited to being a team player and ability to communicate effectively with regional personnel, internal and external auditors.
  • Thorough understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care payment methodologies.
