Job Summary

Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) throughout the continuum of care. The RN coordinates patient care provided by health team members utilizing interpersonal and teamwork skills.
The Nursing Practice of this position is congruent with evidence-based practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse provides care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs in accordance with the mission of St. Rita’s Medical Center and within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. The Registered Nurse functioning in the spirit of teamwork is accountable for the delivery of nursing care utilizing the nursing process using evidence based standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization. The Registered Nurse coordinates the interdisciplinary patient care. The Registered Nurse will incorporate the core values of St. Rita’s Medical Center (Excellence, Human Dignity, Justice, Mercy, Sacredness of Life and Service) and the American Nursing Association Code of Ethics for nurses into their daily practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assessment: The frequency of a nursing assessment shall be based upon the registered nurse's judgement and the client's status.
The Registered Nurse shall accurately and timely:
A) Conduct and document a nursing assessment of the health status of the client
B) Collect objective and subjective data
C) Modify the assessment as the clients status changes
D) Report assessment data as appropriate to other members of the health care team.
Analysis: The registered nurse shall accurately and timely:
A) Analyze the assessment data; and
B) Establish, accept, or modify a nursing diagnosis to be used as a basis for nursing interventions.
Planning: The registered nurse shall accurately and timely:
A) Develop, maintain, or modify the nursing component of the plan of care; and
B) Communicate the nursing component of the plan of care and all modifications of the plan to appropriate members of the health care team.
Implementation: The registered nurse shall accurately and timely implement the current nursing plan of care which may include;
A) Executing the current regimen prescribed by:
1) A licensed physician, dentist, optometrist, or podiatrist
2) An advanced practice nurse approved under section 4723.55 of the revised code.
3) A certified nurse-midwife, certified nurse practitioner, certified registered nurse anesthetist, or clinical nurse specialist approved under section 4723.41 of the revised code
4) A physician assistant in accordance with chapter 4730 of the revised code and the rules of the ohio state medical board.
B) Giving direct nursing care which is commensurate with the education, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the registered nurse;
C) Assisting with care of the client;
D) Collaborating with other nurses and other members of the health care team;and
E) Delegating delegable nursing tasks in accordance with chapter 4723-13 of the administrative code, or delegating giving oral or applying topical medications in accordance with chapter 4723-21 of the administrative code, or chapter 4723-22 of the administrative code.
Evaluation: The registered nurse shall accurately and timely:
A) Evaluate the client's response to nursing interventions;
B) Document and communicate the client's response to nursing interventions to appropriate members of the health care team;
C) Reassess the client's health status, revise the nursing diagnosis or the nursing component of the client's plan of care, and make changes in the nursing interventions as appropriate.
D) Involve as appropriate the client, family, significant others, or other members of the healthcare team in the evaluation.

Must have current registration and licensure in the State of Ohio.

Education and/or Experience

Education: Associates; Bachelors Preferred

Years of Experience: 1-3

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
One to two years of Medical-Surgical Nursing preferred, or experience in specialty.

Hours

Hours per pay period: 48

Hours: 7:00pm to 7:30am

Every third weekend and rotating holidays
