Job Summary

 Pharmacy Tech II Certified job openings for our Hospitals in Cincinnati.  Full and Part time openings.  Apply Now to be considered

Performs technical duties, under direct supervision of pharmacist, involving compounding and dispensing medications as prescribed by physicians or other qualified prescribers. Contributes to outstanding quality control measures in performing duties related to customer service, work environment cleanliness, and medication management.  Acts as a mentor and guide to other support personnel based on proven job expertise. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCATIONS

-Delivers medications and picks up orders and discontinued medications from nursing units, noting discrepancies and correcting as necessary. Restocks medications via Pyxis, exchange carts and/or patient charge sheets. 

-Prepares IV admixtures (LVP, IVPB, chemotherapy, etc) using aseptic technique. 

-Assists in purchasing functions to maintain stock levels. Reorders medications and supplies as indicated.  

-Takes ownership in departmental Quality Monitoring Initiatives, as well as acts as a mentor and guide for other pharmacy support personnel.  This includes but is not limited to assisting management develop and update training and orientation specific to this role and department.  

-Weighs, measures and mixes ingredients; compounding medications. 

-Prepares medications for dispensing, including unit dosing and repacking medications. 

-Performs excellent customer service both face to face as well as by phone with patients, RNs and other healthcare workers.   

-Insures that pharmaceuticals/supplies are charged timely and appropriately. Uses supplies in a cost-effective manner, consistent with good stewardship. 

-Cleans IV room, monitors temperatures of medication refrigerators, perform unit inspections for pharmacy inventory and removes medication that are outdated.  Maintains accountability for those and other Quality Assurance (QA) functions. 

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CPhT Certification
  • At least 5 years of experience as a pharmacy tech, including at least 2 years in institutional practice.
