Job Summary

The MRI Tech is a certified health professional under the direction of an authorized user, is committed to applying the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of magnetic waves.  Responsibilities including direct patient care provided in a compassionate and timely manner.  The MRI tech’s growth and development is maintained through ongoing medical and technical education which contributes to the delivery of quality patient care.

 Specific Accountabilities:

Professionalism:

  • Is neat in appearance and in accordance with established dress codes that promotes professionalism.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner.
  • Maintains a good rapport with other staff members.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.

 Quality of Work:

  • Properly positions the patient on the MRI scanning cradle to obtain desired anatomic position.
  • Inputs patient information and selects scan parameters for specific exam using CRT.
  • Scan patients according to established protocol and physician request.
  • Performs IV injections and has knowledge of use and care of existing IV’s.
  • Administers magnetic contrast agents specific to procedure.
  • Manipulates images using a wide variety of available computer functions to optimally visualize desired anatomy.
  • Performs quality assurance tests as specified by department protocol.
  • Troubleshoots equipment during malfunction in absence of service engineer and reports malfunction to radiology maintenance/supervisor.
  • Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain clinical competency as required for the department for assignment to work with patients growth and developmental needs, particularly related to patients who are: adult and geriatric as deemed necessary by designated facility.

Education, Specialized and/or Technical Knowledge Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology or Advanced Imaging Program.
  • Registered in MRI by taking advanced level exam given by ARRT.
  • Registry eligible in MRI.

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours, varies
