Job Summary

A professional management position assuming 24-hour responsibility for supervising and coordinating the administrative and operational activities in the assigned areas. In collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, assures safe, efficient and cost-effective care to the patients within the assigned areas. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups.

Qualifications - Minimum


Provides leadership, management, and support in assigned area(s) to ensure achievement of Mercy Health’s strategic and operational plans by effectively managing human, financial and capital resources within the spirit of its mission and values.  Assumes responsibility for coordinating all available resources to assure a high degree of safe, appropriate care and treatment for all patients on their unit.  Works collaboratively to plan, implement and evaluate health care standards within the unit.  Works collaboratively with the Director to facilitate problem resolution.


  • Licensed by State of Ohio as an R.N.


  • BSN required.
  • Magnet recognized certification required or must obtain within 1 year.
  • Certification in specialty area of expertise preferred.
  • Certified in ACLS  PALS - required.
  • CEN and  TNCC preferred.  


  • Five years of experience as a professional nurse within a hospital setting.
  • Three years ED experience required.
  • Three years management experience required.
  • Experience as a nurse manager preferred.

•     Computer literacy.


Hours per pay period: 80

Hours: Variable 

Must maintain flexibility of supervision of staff and daily operations on a 24 hour basis. 

May be required to work some weekend  holiday and shifts to ensure management presence and visibility.  

ANCC recognized certification required or must obtain within 1 year.
