Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Mercy College, works with the college community to promote an institutional culture and welcoming environment that supports diversity and inclusion at the institution. Equally important, this individual will be responsible for involvement within the local community to establish relations with community entities.


Develop, implement and revise a comprehensive plan that promotes an institutional culture and welcoming environment, at both the Toledo campus and Youngstown location, that supports diversity and inclusion.

Stay current on Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action regulations as well as other applicable Federal and State laws and requirements and advise leadership accordingly.

Work with enrollment management leadership to support recruitment of a diverse student body. Collaborate with employee relations and executive leadership to support initiatives to recruit, retain and advance diverse faculty, administrators and staff.

Chair the College’s Diversity Council, as well as the Diversity Advisory Board.

Work with the academic leadership to incorporate diversity and inclusion in the curriculum.  Develop and deliver programs and workshops to students, faculty, staff and administrators on topics related to diversity, inclusion and retention at both the Toledo Campus and the Youngstown location.

Represent Mercy College at diversity programs and events within the system and the greater Toledo and Youngstown communities.

Work with the student life leadership to develop and support multi-cultural programming and student organizations.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Minimum


Required Minimum Education:

4 year Bachelors Degree

Preferred Education:

Graduate Degree (Masters)

  • Combination of post-secondary education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree.


Experience within higher education preferred.

Ability to effectively communicate with diverse constituencies, internally and externally, in written, oral, and electronic methods.


Hours per pay period: 80

Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm

May be required to work some evenings and weekends.
