Job Summary

BASIC PURPOSE: Prepare food for patients, cafeteria, and caterings.  Serves on the cafeteria line or the patient trayline.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares and serves hot and cold food for patients, cafeteria, and caterings in a timely and attractive manner while following all HACCP (food safety guidelines).  Follows production system guidelines on recipes as well as quantities to prepare.  Prepares and cooks food to order for patients and food is required to get to the patient within 45 minutes.
  • Updates all records in Food Management (production system).
  • Performs cleaning as assigned.
  • Whether cooking for the patient line or the cafeteria, recipes are followed along with directions for preparing, seasoning and cooking.  Production sheets that provide quantities are to be followed.
  • Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing and cutting fruits and vegetables.  Also, trimming and cutting meat, poultry, or fish for culinary use.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work stations and equipment following all the HACCP guidelines within their area of responsibility.

EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED AND/OR TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED

PREFERRED:

  • HAACP Certification preferred. 
  • Experience in institutional cooking preferred.

Shift and Job Schedule

Hours: Part-Time, 24 Hourly/Weekly

Schedule: 6:00AM - 2:30PM or 2:30PM-8:00PM

Shifts: Days / Evenings
