Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director, Privacy, this position contributes to the Mercy Health and Ensemble mission and vision by providing support and coordination of privacy-related activities including special projects and initiatives related to Ensemble revenue cycle-third party billing Corporate Responsibility Program (CRP) and the overarching efforts of Mercy Health Revenue Cycle Compliance. Ensemble RMC LLC is an owned subsidiary of Mercy Health and provides a wide-range of revenue cycle services to Mercy Health and non-Mercy Health clients. This position provides program-related support relative to Mercy Health and Ensemble operations conducted at all locations.

Administer the process for documenting, tracking, and investigating privacy incidents; assist with notifications and reporting as needed under the supervision of the Director, Privacy.

Prepare and maintain reports and databases. This includes, but is not limited to, reports to be submitted to the OCR, HHS and other regulatory agencies and departments. Create and maintain Privacy compliance metrics.

Provide input and assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of privacy compliance activities including assessments, work plans, risk analyses, and team building efforts to align the compliance program with emerging internal and external expectations and requirements.

Assist with HIPAA Business Associate Agreement process completion with clients and subcontractors. Completes tasks and conducts research associated with ongoing or special projects related to HIPAA.

Assists in the identification of emerging risk areas to incorporate into the development and maintenance of policies and procedures, education and communications.

Maintains awareness of fraud, waste and abuse laws and regulations and current industry changes that may impact healthcare revenue cycle services domestic and international through personal initiative, continuing education and peer-to-peer networking.

Ensures that the Director, Privacy is apprised of local, remote and client-network emerging privacy issues and adverse outcomes and/or deficiencies that could impact Ensemble or Mercy Health’s public status.

Duties as assigned or approved by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications - Minimum

Required Minimum Education: 2 year Associates Degree; Specialty/Major: Healthcare, Compliance 

Preferred Education:  4 year Bachelors Degree

Minimum Years and Type of Experience: Two to four years of experience within healthcare operations, law, and compliance programs either from a consulting perspective or as an employee/manager. 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Development and delivery of training materials and programs, to include experience in healthcare privacy compliance, implementing regulatory changes and providing privacy compliance related training.  

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Analytic and problem-solving skills to identify compliance risks and prioritize recommendations. Ability to take major strategic objectives and break them down into meaningful action steps.
